Pure Water Group has supplied a next-generation Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI) system to its Italian partner WTEC Plants srl, supporting the production of ultrapure boiler feed water for a modern combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Sicily.
Installed downstream of WTEC’s reverse osmosis system, the CEDI solution ensures a consistent supply of ultrapure water essential for protecting turbines, maximizing efficiency, and maintaining long-term operational reliability. In CCGT plants, where gas and steam turbines operate together to optimize energy output, water purity is critical to performance and asset lifetime.
For this project, Pure Water Group implemented its newly developed VNX PLUS system design. The compact skid-mounted solution integrates four independently operated Ionpure VNX-Max modules, allowing operators to flexibly adjust ultrapure water production from 15 to 60 m³/h by running individual modules as required. This modular approach enhances energy efficiency, operational resilience, and scalability.
The project further reinforces the collaboration between WTEC Plants and Pure Water Group, combining tailored engineering expertise with advanced water treatment technology to support sustainable, high-performance power generation.
