Digital platform targets water network optimisation in France

Water utilities are increasingly adopting digital tools to improve infrastructure monitoring, reduce water losses and optimise energy use across distribution networks. In this context, Grundfos introduced Grundfos Connect, a digital solution portfolio designed to support water, wastewater and irrigation operators in France with data-driven network management.

Digital tools for monitoring pumps and distribution networks
The Grundfos Connect portfolio includes several software modules intended to improve visibility across water infrastructure. These include Grundfos Connect Asset Monitor, Grundfos Connect Network Analytics and Grundfos Connect Demand Distribution.

Grundfos Connect Asset Monitor enables remote monitoring and control of pumping equipment via a 4G-connected online platform and is positioned as an alternative to conventional SCADA-based monitoring approaches. The system can be applied across hydraulic installations such as booster stations and wastewater lift stations and is designed to integrate with multi-vendor infrastructure.

Using operational data to improve network efficiency
Grundfos Connect Network Analytics focuses on transforming operational data into actionable insights for utilities. The system supports analysis of network conditions such as leakage detection, remote metering and water quality monitoring while also supporting energy optimisation strategies and infrastructure lifecycle management.

The platform combines digital twin models, field sensor data and predictive analytics to identify potential failures and reduce risks associated with service interruptions and water losses.

Pressure management and demand-based pump control
Grundfos Connect Demand Distribution is designed to optimise pump operation by dynamically adjusting pressure setpoints based on actual network demand. This approach is intended to reduce stress on pipelines, minimise leakage risks and improve energy efficiency across distribution systems.

Such control strategies are increasingly used in smart water infrastructure projects where demand-based control can help extend infrastructure lifetime and reduce operational costs.

Cybersecurity and digital infrastructure integration
The solutions in the Grundfos Connect portfolio are designed to comply with cybersecurity requirements for cloud-connected industrial systems. The platform incorporates certified security mechanisms intended to protect operational data and support adoption of cloud-based water management technologies.

The portfolio is intended to support utilities at different stages of digitalisation, enabling gradual integration into existing digital infrastructure and supporting broader digital supply chain strategies in water services.
