WEG Demonstrates Sustainable Desalination Solutions at IDRA World Congress 2024
WEG will showcase its energy-efficient water management innovations for desalination and wastewater treatment at the IDRA World Congress 2024 on December 11 in Abu Dhabi.

The IDRA World Congress is renowned for bringing together private and public sector leaders to present cutting-edge technologies, projects and research. At this year's congress, WEG will highlight its commitment to sustainable water management, focusing on innovations in energy-efficient solutions for desalination, potable water plants and wastewater treatment systems.
In the Middle East, where water demand and energy consumption are both on the rise, desalination remains the primary source of freshwater. This process, however, requires over 1 kilowatt-hour per cubic metre, accounting for nearly half of the residential sector's energy consumption.
"As water demand in the Middle East grows, so does the need for energy,” commented Jesús Rivas, Waste and Wastewater Global Manager of WEG. “At IDRA, WEG will showcase how drives can significantly reduce energy consumption across the water sector, enabling more sustainable water treatment and reuse operations."
As part of the Technical Program, Joable A. Alves, Application Engineer at WEG, will present his session titled "VFD with Evaporative Liquid Cooling for Extreme Conditions in Water and Wastewater Industry Installations," scheduled for December 11 from 11:35 to 11:50 AM. Additionally, Jesús Rivas will be available to discuss WEG’s role in water treatment advancements and the company’s ongoing contributions to global water security.
The IDRA World Congress remains a premier platform for advancing desalination and water reuse technologies, positioning WEG as a key industry leader in energy-efficient solutions.
