Sulzer has launched a global Center of Excellence (CoE) for Water Treatment Solutions, consolidating its wastewater treatment capabilities into a single, coordinated platform. The move establishes a centralized structure for engineering, process design, and technology development, aimed at reducing complexity and risk in water treatment projects.
The CoE integrates Sulzer’s wastewater process expertise across the full treatment chain, covering screening, sedimentation, filtration, and flotation. By unifying engineering competence with process know-how and a broad technology portfolio, the platform is designed to support end-to-end system design and predictable lifecycle performance.
As part of the consolidation, the CoE brings together technologies and solutions from Sulzer’s established water treatment brands, including Nordic Water, FRC Systems, IPEC, JWC Screens, Owatec, and Probig. This integration enables customers to source complete treatment solutions from a single provider, with the goal of simplifying project execution and optimising lifecycle costs.
Functioning as a global competence hub, the CoE supports technology development, solution standardisation, and knowledge transfer, while project delivery and implementation remain regionally based. This model combines centralized engineering consistency with local execution, intended to accelerate project timelines and improve operational reliability.
The CoE also focuses on emerging technical challenges in water treatment, including the removal of micropollutants and PFAS, as well as solutions for water reuse. These capabilities are aimed at helping municipalities and essential industries comply with increasingly stringent regulations while advancing long-term sustainability objectives.
