Condecta, Sulzer Launch Container-based Wastewater Treatment Systems
Mobile container-based units under Sulzer’s Owatec brand enable rapid, flexible wastewater and water treatment for emergency response, industrial reuse and space-constrained sites.

Flood response, construction projects, industrial facilities and remote locations increasingly require wastewater treatment solutions that can be deployed quickly without permanent infrastructure. To address these needs, Swiss companies Condecta AG and Sulzer have formed a partnership to bring modular, container-based wastewater and water treatment systems to the Swiss market.
Under the Owatec brand, Condecta becomes the exclusive distributor of these mobile treatment units in Switzerland. The systems are designed for situations where flexibility, rapid installation or limited available space are decisive factors, including emergency deployments following flooding or industrial incidents.
Modular container systems designed for rapid deployment
The containerized treatment units are engineered as plug-and-play systems that can be installed and commissioned within a short time frame. Their modular design allows them to be integrated into existing wastewater treatment plants, industrial production facilities or temporary infrastructure such as construction sites.
Depending on configuration, the systems support a wide range of treatment processes, including wastewater purification, sludge treatment and resource recovery. Optional remote monitoring and operation functions enable operators to supervise performance and adjust processes without continuous on-site presence, improving operational efficiency in temporary or decentralized applications.
Focus on industrial wastewater reuse and resource efficiency
Beyond emergency response, the modular systems are designed to support industrial wastewater treatment where water reuse and cost efficiency are increasingly important. Treated wastewater can be returned to production processes, reducing freshwater consumption and lowering disposal costs.
The integrated treatment approach enables the recovery of valuable materials from wastewater or sludge, supporting circular water management strategies. This is particularly relevant for industrial sectors with high water usage or strict discharge regulations.
Applications across multiple sectors
The container-based systems are primarily used in the food and beverage industry, municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, and construction environments such as tunneling projects. Their mobility also makes them suitable for deployment during natural disasters or chemical incidents, where conventional infrastructure may be unavailable or damaged.
By combining Condecta’s expertise in modular infrastructure with Owatec’s wastewater treatment technology, the collaboration addresses a growing demand for adaptable treatment solutions across the full water lifecycle.
