Smith & Loveless Showcases Recessed Pump Station Design

Smith & Loveless Inc. is spotlighting its EVERLAST™ Rectangular Recessed (EV R2) Pump Station, a semi-recessed, climate-controlled wastewater pumping system engineered to lower operation and maintenance (O&M) costs while improving operator safety and accessibility compared to conventional submersible pump stations.

Factory-built and fully tested, the EV R2 is designed for both new installations and replacement of submersible systems. The packaged station integrates premium-efficiency motors optimized specifically for solids-handling pumps, reducing energy consumption and supporting a smaller carbon footprint.

Grade-level access and climate-controlled workspace
Unlike submersible pump stations, all mechanical equipment—including pumps and valves—is housed in a spacious, prefabricated workspace that is semi-recessed below grade. This configuration provides immediate ground-level access while maintaining a low visual profile.

The earth-insulated interior is dry, climate controlled, and engineered for continuous human occupancy, making maintenance tasks safer and more practical—particularly in colder climates. The enclosure features dual independent hatch covers with air-assisted hood lifts, simplifying entry and improving operator ergonomics.

High-efficiency solids handling
The EV R2 is equipped with S&L STAR ONE™ Non-Clog Pumps, centrifugal solids-handling pumps designed to last three to five times longer than typical submersible units. These pumps also deliver higher hydraulic efficiencies across varying operating conditions.

For advanced control and diagnostics, the optional QUICKSMART™ PLC system offers an intuitive touchscreen interface with real-time monitoring, troubleshooting tools, and predictive maintenance capabilities.

Additional options include RapidJack® check valves, which simplify maintenance by eliminating complex disassembly procedures, and the DURO-LAST® stainless steel baseplate featuring a ¾-inch (1.9 cm) thickness and a 25-year warranty—providing enhanced structural rigidity and long-term durability.

With its integrated, climate-controlled design and focus on lifecycle cost reduction, the EVERLAST™ Rectangular Recessed Pump Station reinforces Smith & Loveless’ position in high-efficiency wastewater infrastructure solutions.
