Peristaltic pumps for failsafe conveying of aggressive chemicals

Industrial water treatment requires the precise handling of aggressive substances, such as hydrochloric acid for pH regulation and sodium hypochlorite for disinfection. To address the technical challenges of conveying these media, Lutz-Jesco developed the PERIDOS FXM series. The system utilizes a rotating roller design that compresses a flexible hose from the outside to push the medium forward. This architecture ensures that the liquid only contacts the hose, protecting the pump's internal components from corrosion and wear.

Scaling and high-precision dosing ratios
The series is categorized into three performance classes to accommodate various industrial scales. The PERIDOS FXM 1 serves as an entry-level solution with a flow rate of 2.8 l/h, while the FXM 2 handles mid-range requirements at 176 l/h. The most powerful variant, the FXM 3, reaches up to 840 l/h.

A key technical feature is the above-average turndown ratio of 5000:1. This allows for extreme precision in chemical dosing; for example, the FXM 2 model can be adjusted from its maximum capacity down to a minimum flow rate of 0.035 l/h. This range is critical for maintaining water quality standards where minute adjustments to chemical concentrations are necessary.

Integrated design and condition monitoring
The PERIDOS FXM series features a compact housing that integrates the drive, gear, electronics, and pump head, eliminating the need for external control units and reducing the overall installation footprint. To minimize downtime and prevent hazardous spills, the pumps include several monitoring features:
  • Leak detection: An early alarm system triggers if the hose is damaged, allowing for proactive maintenance before a total failure occurs.
  • Flow verification: The FXM 2 and 3 models can be equipped with sensors to monitor flow rates in real-time. This allows operators to immediately detect deviations in dosing processes, ensuring consistent product quality.
These technologies were showcased at IFAT 2026 in Munich, Germany, from May 4 to May 7, 2026. The integration of these sensors and the wide turndown ratio support the digital supply chain of modern environmental facilities by providing reliable data for process optimization.
