ST Engineering announced that its Urban Solutions business will be deploying its smart water platform for Aegea, one of Brazil’s largest private sanitation companies providing services to over 500 municipalities in Brazil. Scheduled to be operational by end 2024, the smart water platform will digitally integrate water meter infrastructure across Aegea’s concessions to improve water management operational efficiency, enable data-driven water optimisation and reduce non-revenue water.
Built on a cloud-based meter data management system that securely collects, stores and manages data, the water meter-agnostic smart water platform will enable automated, end-to-end monitoring and control of Aegea’s entire water metering infrastructure. The platform will deliver real-time alerts, water consumption trend analysis and water optimisation insights to help Aegea unlock new efficiencies in water management.
“Our partnership with Aegea comes at a crucial time as water demands increase, driven by rapid urbanisation, dwindling water resources and climate change. The smart water platform will transform Aegea’s water management operations, delivering critical insights that will help optimise water management, and significantly aggregate water savings across its concessions. This collaboration plays a vital role in addressing Brazil’s urgent need for better water management to strengthen water resilience. It also underscores our commitment to leverage technology to enable sustainable urban living and improve quality of life,” said Gareth Tang, Head, Smart Utilities and Infrastructure, Urban Solutions at ST Engineering.
“The partnership with ST Engineering is in line with Aegea’s commitment to consistently seek out the best and most advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency and performance, with a focus on improving the quality of services we provide to over 31 million people across more than 500 municipalities in Brazil. All these efforts contribute to our ongoing progress towards achieving universal access to sanitation in Brazil, providing health and dignity to the population,” states Eduardo Mendes, Technology Executive Officer at Aegea.
This project adds to ST Engineering’s track record in implementing over 800 smart city projects in more than 150 cities worldwide.
